Victory's Radical New Vision
Greetings from Minnesota, where I'm attending the press launch of Victory's new Vision motorcycles.
Though it looks like we might hit a thunderstorm or two during tomorrow's ride, the weather doesn't concern me... in fact, I'm curious to find out how well the Vision protects riders from wind and rain, and how well its seat and grip heaters work.
Unveiled earlier this year, the Vision is a large, boldly designed motorcycle that will be available in two models: the Street version, which is intended primarily for shorter rides, and the Tour, which is ideal for longer distance, two-up rides. Vision Tours are distinguished by a trunk that doubles as a passenger backrest, though both models will compete against all-out touring bikes like BMW's K 1200 LT, Harley-Davidson's Ultra Glide, and Honda's Gold Wing.
Myself and a group of journalists spent this afternoon touring Victory's product development headquarters in Wyoming, Wisconsin Minnesota (yes, Wyoming is also a city-- confusing, I know,) and we got a preview of some of the cool design and technology that has been incorporated into the Vision. Though it's tempting to jump to conclusions about whether or not the bike will live up to its ambitious goals, the riding experience will be the true test of its character.
Stay tuned for a full review of both models, and find out how Victory's Vision stacks up against the competition!

um ah its wyoming Minnesota!
Thanks for catching that, Chris.
Its not a Harley so what is the Point?
Where did you learn English grammar? It’s not “Myself and a group of journalists…,” it’s “A group of journalistgs and I…” You wouldn’t say “Myself spent this afternoon…,” would you? Geez!
Dear Jim,
I appreciate the note.
Part of what I want to capture on About.com is the friendly fun I feel all motorcycle enthusiasts share.
I used the phrase, which is a colloquialism– much like your phrase “geez”– in an effort to capture the laid back feeling of motorcycling, and I am sorry if I offended your grammatical sensibilities.
Keep the shiny side up!
Basem
That is the point: It’ NOT a harley
The real point is that it is not an overpriced and HIGHLY overrated Harley
If HD’s are so good, how come they rarely win at bike comparos?!
it is a bold statement as completely out of the styling that folks from any touring community is used to. But to be fair, the hayabusa, and new rune were not well received when first marketed, but in final production form were appreciated. So lets give them their due, and let dollar vote decide. Freedom to innovate brings better bikes.
Did anyone say…motorcycle?
yuck!
Looks futuristic enough, always wondered where the next designs would be heading.. I ride an 03′ Goldwing, and have ridden the Harley Ultra, I prefer the wings ride, power, and handling. Very nimble. BUT, the Ultra does give the rider more comfortable leg positioning. Passengers always like the wing better, more room all around. I’d like to see a slightly redesigned Wing, fairing a bit narrower at the knees and controls pushed forward a bit.
WHEW!! i AM SURE THAT OUR NEW HOST WISHES HE WOULD’VE NEVER BROUGHT THAT ABOUT! OUCH! LIGHTEN UP EVERYBODY! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FUN FORUM! i personally welcome you Basem, regardless of your name. Yeah, I said it ’cause that’s what most of the readers see…your name and wondering if you’re “uh-oh…one of them”….
…At any rate, good luck and God Bless you in this new venture.
