Motorcycle Industry Pledges $2.8 Million to Fund Crash Research
It might not seem like a lot of money, but it's a start.
The AMA recently praised the motorcycle industry for funding a long-overdue motorcycle crash study, the first major effort since the notorious "Hurt" study.
Ed Moreland, the AMA's VP for Government Relations, states on their website that "This commitment by the motorcycle industry is a vital ingredient in getting the first comprehensive study of the causes of motorcycle crashes in more than 25 years," a sentiment any safety conscious rider can identify with.
In my opinion, the study couldn't come too soon; the "Hurt" study provided insight into the causes and effects of motorcycle accidents, which ultimately served to aid the avoidance of potentially fatal wrecks. Up-to-date research could make us even safer on two wheels.
