Boss Hoss Downsizes Their Top-Dog V8-Powered Motorcycle for '08

Monday August 13, 2007
Boss Hoss BHC-3 LS2

What's happening to our country?

Due to tightening Federal emissions laws (not to mention California's even tougher CARB requirements), Boss Hoss Cycles were forced to replace their flagship 502 cubic inch V8 model with a 364 cubic inch version. That's right: if you want a brand new, 8.2 liter motorcycle, you'll just have to settle for a measly 6.0 liters.

The new LS2 powerplant, which is essentially a re-mapped Chevy Corvette C6 engine, pumps out 425 horsepower and 425 lb-ft of torque. Revised ergonomics include a shorter wheelbase and 3" lower seat height. The new geometry puts you more "inside" the bike, which no doubt builds confidence when attempting to wrangle a beast endowed with more power than God ever intended for motorcycles.

280 lbs are trimmed from the 502's tonnage, making this two-wheeler positively featherweight in comparison to its leviathan predecessor. And if this mongo-sized moto is simply too excessive but you still crave an eight-banger bike, look no further than Boss Hoss's even more humble, 350 cubic inch model, which puts out "only" 355 horsepower.

Every time I see one of these bikes I just laugh. I mean really, just look at the size of the tank.

(7) JMBikerWarehouse says:

I agree with Scottie. I think that the tank is just to large. Plus what are you going to do with an engine that big, tow a 5th wheel?

I often see people who can’t afford to buy an expensive item rationalize it by making negative comments such as “Who’d want one of those things anyway?”

Have ridden (or been rode) hard most of my 51 and got the pleasure to ride a BH at a rally not long back. Until that point I coveted the neighbor’s. Howerer, once on one I realized I’d surely become a terrible stain if I followed through with this insanity. I still love the idea of them, but pine from afar once anon, for I know I am too wild to attempt to bridle the power within this untamed beast.

(15) Racklefratz says:

What’s truly revealing is all the put-downs by the unwashed masses who will never be able to afford this bike.

It’s predictable; people are wetting their pants because they want something so badly, but since they realize it’ll never happen, they find all sorts of creative ways to diss it and find fault with its every detail, no matter how nice it is.

Look at the size of the tank, indeed. It’s 8.5 gallons; the tank on my Harley Electraglide is 6 gallons. Big deal.

An example of what’s wrong with America today, indeed. It’s a prime example of how great America is today, and why people everywhere else in the world want to come to America. Where else in the world is such a motorcycling masterpiece available? Hmmmmm ??

you people that can put down a bike like this are rediculus. i agree 48,000 is a lot 4 a bike but do kno how much goes into these things? all aluminum block? thats not cheap on its oun. your all just jelous because you cant afford one and neither can i but thats no reason to be putting these masterpieces down. you got to ride one before you can critisize it.
