Bike Scoping at SEMA
While colleague Dale Wickell has been up to his ears in trucks at the 2007 SEMA show, it's been considerably slimmer pickings for motorcycles.
Nonetheless, I went huntin' for cycles and spent some time chatting with Roger Bourget, co-founder of Bourget's Bike Works, which builds stunning bikes like this all-aluminum T6 Retro (which will set you back about $75,000.)
They unveiled their latest project here, the F80 Shredder (pictured on the right.) The Shredder is a four-wheeled hot rod that cloaks a 425 horsepower small block Chevy V8 crate motor underneath a custom painted aluminum body. A Turbo 350 automatic transmission directs power towards a Winters "Quick Change" rear end, and Bourget told me he has personally taken the Shredder to speeds in excess of 160 mph.
The F80 ain't cheap by any stretch of the imagination; turnkeys will run you $90,000, while kits can be had for about a third of that price.
Will this costly quad be a hit? With production limited to 25 per year, I suppose anything could happen.

As far a four wheelers go, I’m much more impressed with the Yamaha Tesseract. To me the Shredder is just a convertible without doors.
