Cycle World International Motorcycle Show Part 2:
Exploring the Unorthodox
I brought my helmet to the 2007 Cycle World International Motorcycle Show, but didn't get to sample those famously controversial Kymco motorcycles; instead, I spent a day testing Piaggio's new 400cc and 500cc 3-wheel power scooters, which are already all over Europe. As this photo reveals, the articulated front wheels enable some pretty creative parking scenarios, which I'll describe further in an upcoming review.
On the other end of the unorthodox spectrum, check out the one-off Roland Sands Ducati Hypermotard, which blends elements of custom chopper, dirt tracker, and café styling. Roland was kind enough to start the thing up and rev it at an event the night before; the unrestricted L-twin sounded pretty sweet, but I think I lost part of my hearing. Devoted Ducatisti are sure to be up in arms about this re-worked Hypermotard, but a little controversy never hurt anyone, did it?
Also, I caught a glimpse of Ducati's new Monster 696 which, in my opinion, looks much better in person than in photos.

What a shame. No time to sample those ‘’controversial Kymco motorcycles'’ !
Have you posted yet the follow up on the Piaggio’s 3-wheelers ?
obxbiker,
The Piaggio review is slotted behind a few other reviews, but will get posted in the coming weeks.
