Biker Chic Big Again
The worlds of high fashion, rock 'n' roll, and fine art are drawing inspiration from motorcyclists, according to a New York Times story, and this certainly isn't the first time. In spite of weekend warrior dentists and accountants who choose to indoctrinate themselves into bike culture, motorcycling has always exemplified the edge, the other, the opposite of the status quo, and it's not surprising that designers and artists want to align themselves with two-wheeled authenticity.

It has always been my dream to look like the guy in the picture. I just dont have that model bod.
The attempt at humor is obvious showing the dirt bag with the beer gut & tattoo…however…why you would picture anything to do with the Hells Angles is beyond me.
The’re killers, drug dealers and quite possibly the biggest organized crime syndicate North America has ever seen.
If a poor image exists of motorcycling with the uneducated public it is directly attributable to scum like the Angels and all the rest of the wannabes.
As far as ‘high fashion’ goes…..
Not in to it…function first.
Pete,
I’m not condoning the Hells Angels, but merely attempting to illustrate the two furthest extremes… hence the juxtaposition of the tattoed gut and the size zero model.
99% of motorcyclists I know (myself included) favor function over form. That’s usually the way we are.

That artical was a good reminder of why i don’t read the ny times…
When do knee sliders and brightly colored jackets with sholder and elbow pads come into fashion? Ummm. Scratch that. I don’t want to see Michael Jackson make a come back.
Gordon,
That damn Times keeps showing up at my door every morning, but at least the Daily News and Post are tucked underneath. Usually the Post has the funniest headlines, however, that morning the Times won with this article.
Hell’s Angel dude has a farmer’s tan… and an ugly one at that!
I only wish that “fashion” motorcycle jackets weren’t taken literally and actually worn for riding. They don’t offer the same protection a real one does.
Most of the “bikers” I see around are just posers in biker fashion anyway. Their bikes are stored for half the year, because they don’t want to get them wet, yet walk around in boots, bandanas, chained wallets, jeans, and Harley t-shirts saying look at me, “I’m such a bad biker dude”. An authentic rider wears what is appropriate when riding and dresses normally when they’re not.
I have to laugh at these clothes. If you ever dumped your ride wearing this stuff, you’d have a bad case of road rash or worse. Real “biker” stuff isn’t made to be fashionable – it’s made to keep you safe. I wear regular “office casual” when not riding.
Hmmm? a fat slob with jail house tats and a broad who looks like she’s waiting on line at a meth clinic, nice…
Typical of todays articles on biking. Fashion gurus going bad ass whew the cloths make the…idiots…laughable and dangerously stupid. Fat boy is probably a weekend model…lol
You all should bow your heads in shame. Most motorcylist don’t deserve a bad reputation and niether do todays Hells Angels. The Hells Angels in my area behave like gentleman and hold a toy run every year for xmas, give them a break.
Sue, your truly are an idiot! Assuming you can read, pick up Yves Lavigne’s books…he’s written at least 2 about the gangs…in particular the Angels. There’s only 1 place for them … other than under a blank headstone…behind bars.
Wake up!
Pete you sure are an angry guy- you’re practically in a panic attack on the internet because there is a photo of a big bad biker… we all know you wouldn’t say anything in real life so just settle down there buddy. haha
You used to hate us, now you want to be us.
