Curious about scooters? You're not alone.
These kindler, gentler forms of two-wheeled transportation have grown increasingly popular, and I recently had an opportunity to sample Aprilia's SportCity 250. The $4,599 SportCity is on the bigger end of the scooter spectrum (but not quite as massive as so-called power scooters), and its freeway legal status and 61 mpg fuel economy make it a strong candidate for commuting.

Just not getting too excited about the $5k step throughs.
I’m with you…never been a big fan of scooters. I’ve always (with zero experience to back it up) thought them to be not especially safe. Small tires, small brakes, small stature, not taken seriously by car drivers. Thanks, I prefer a little mass, visibility, more rubber on the road and some HP. Honda makes a 600cc scooter…I’ve ridden it and I think it’s way too fast for it’s own good.
