Photo Gallery of the 2008 Suzuki C109R and C109RT: Big Enough For Ya?

Tuesday April 29, 2008
2008 Suzuki C109RT

It boasts what Suzuki claims are the biggest pistons of any land-going vehicle, and with a dry weight of 787 pounds it qualifies as one seriously heavyweight motorcycle.

From its rigid style rear end featuring expansive 240mm rubber to its thumping 1,783cc V-twin derived from the Suzuki M109R, the C109R cruiser and C109RT tourer offer more practical ergonomics than the M109R in a package intended to outprice and outperform Harley-Davidson.

Check out our 2008 Suzuki C109R and C109RT photo gallery, and be on the lookout for a full review of these big, beastly bikes.

Why even bother with saddle bags when they are so small? Radiator is ugly.

(2) Pete says:

Another grossly over weight, evil handling barge…probably responds like a water bed with handlbars. That dry weight is very close to a GL with a 10th of the function and comfort.
And let’s face it….how big an accomplishment is it to out price, out perform and out quality H-D.
Burger bikes like this are (figuratively speaking) a dime a dozen.
Yawn……

If I wanted a really classic cruiser, there is really nothing other than the FLSTC. Otherwise, I think the Stratoliner works.

Try the performance! Test drove, un-real, heavy, yes, but it flys, not only on the road, but from the take-off as well! Had to try it to believe it!

I sat on one at my dealer, another heavy barge like the VTX 1800 and Vulcan 2000. That’s why I chose the Yamaha Star Roadliner a year ago. Lighter, better handling and better looking. Well worth the extra bucks! With over $4K worth of aftermarket goodies including Corbin saddlebags & trunk it’s still about $6K below a comparably equipped Harley.

For all you clowns that are calling the C109 a barge, sit your butt on one & snap the throttle & then tell me what you think. Not only does it out handle the C50 I had…even at low speed, it’s a bullet on wheels. If you’re gonna give that throttle a crank you best be hanging on cuz it’ll run right out from under you if you don’t.

I have owned the Honda VTX 1800 for nearly two years now, the 1300 before that. I thought no bike would beat the 1800. I test drove the C109R the other day and returned to the shop and traded the VTX in for the C109R/T on the spot. It is not a barge by any means. The VTX 1800 maybe but loved it. That comment about the barge was not based on fact. The bike handles as if it is 100 pounds lighter than my VTX 1800 (actually it weighs about 27 pounds more) due to its excellent balance of the center of gravity. (no i don’t own Suzuki stock.. maybe i should). And does this machine move. I like power when I want to pass or for safety situations and of course a passenger and gear. Ride it and you tell me. Big bikes are not made for everyone. I am 6′2″ and weigh 225 pounds… i am much more comfortable on a bigger bike than a smaller big… i also wear XL shirts….. take care and drive safe….

I have had a lot of nice bikes before, but none as comfortable or as powerful as this C109R. Now i did like my 2003 VTX1800C for its style and looks, and my 2005 HONDA RUNE but it was mostly a show bike. Now I am spring ordering a 2009 Suzuki C109R, blue model. I think this will be the best bike i have ever owned. As for this bike being a big barge , you have never been on one yet and felt its power and its nice ride…………..

To all the naysayers…anytime you’re on Route 40 west of Columbus, rev yours up…just don’t wet your pants whan you see me eating up your rearview! BTW, when I’m done eating your lunch, the wife and I will load the bags up and head out on a v-e-r-y- comfortable weekend getaway…

Let me say this…I have owned this bike since last June…trust me it is a special bike…bring your bike on and try to run with it…after it leaves you in the dust you will be a believer…the bike is very comfortable and turns heads at all bike rallies…I have been to 145 on it and it feels like 75…Before you say anything bad about this bike go test drive one and then you will have nothing bad to say about it…hell you will probably trade your bike for one before you leave the lot! Good job Suzuki!!

I recently test drove several big bikes looking for the right cruiser for myself> ( 6′2″ , 250 lbs.) I tried the road king to small and to much money, next the yamaha no power and to small, vtx looks good but not me , the kawasaki uncomfortable to me , the c109 r/t omg what a bike and it leaves the rest sucking for air on the road . this bad boy is fast and looks awesome . everyone that sees it loves it, but its not for small people it is huge!
