Best Western Rolls Out the Red Carpet for Bikers

Friday May 2, 2008
Motorcycle Camping

Have you ever gotten the cold shoulder from bikerphobic hotels? Best Western is hoping to attract more two-wheeled visitors by teaming up with Harley-Davidson and identifying more than 1,000 of their hotels as "rider friendly."

Travel benefits extended to selected hotels includes no-cost wipe-down towels, access to a wash station, and some locations feature amenities including free designated parking, tar remover, sunscreen, and lip balm.

Harley is also offering their Gold Crown Club International program to H-D riders, and the free club entitles members to redeem points accumulated at any Best Western hotel around the world.

Comment with your bike-related hotel experiences, and whether this program makes you more willing to stay at a Best Western hotel.

(5) Jeff says:

Peter, my wife and I travel on our Goldwings on at least one big trip each summer; we always seek out the Best Western chain of hotels. They have always shown themselves to be biker friendly and the staff have been very pleasant to us. We also are Gold Crown members and have earned free nights that are easy to redeem.

Cindi,

Thanks for the heads up; I fixed the link.

Peter,

According to their website, “You can elect to transfer your Gold Crown Club International membership to Gold Crown Club® International Ride RewardsTM by calling 1-888-BW2BIKE. As a new Gold Crown Club® International Ride RewardsTM member, you will receive a new Gold Crown Club® International Ride RewardsTM themed membership card with your original Gold Crown Club International account number.”

I traveled across the US twice, racking up more than 13k miles which meant I stayed in lots of hotels in three months, and never was I treated any differently than I was when I parked my car to register. However, with this new incentive from Best Western, I’ll be sure to look for them next trip.

Made a trip from Atl, Ga to San Diego and back on my Harley Ultra Classic. BEST WESTERN all the way. Great place to stay even for BIKERS

(9) Steve says:

We took a 10-week cross-country trip last fall and frequently stayed in Best Westerns. We prefer them over the “cookie cutter” hotels as a rule, and we always had a good experience at them.

Good to hear. We are hoping to start riding across country again. I hope this applies to all “bikers” the brand shouldn’t make a difference as far as we are concerned. A Harley Dealer whose name I will not mention wanted to put my Kawasaki in the trash when I had a flat tire in the middle of nowhere and a good samaritan stopped and took my bike to the closest bike shop. A Harley Shop. It was late at night so of course they were closed. I locked my bike near their front door hoping it would be save and that I could get a tire put on the next morning. When I called them to let them know It was my bike and wha had happened they said the were just getting ready to put that piece of junk in the trash so since I called to come get it off their property immediately and that there was no way that they would sell me a tire much less install it for me. More story to this but we all like to ride.
There is no reason to be so mean to someone who has another opinion of something. A biker is a bike no matter what he/she rides. In fact the friend that was with us was on his Gold Wing and he also owns a Harley. AND we own a 1949 Harley. So…….
Happy Riding to all!
By the way do the Best Westerns allow small dogs?
Thanks!

Donna,

I agree; I hope that as motorcyclists we can rise above brands and just enjoy the ride.

By the way, according to the Best Western site:

“We have over 1,900 Best Western pet friendly hotels. Since qualifications on hotel rooms and options vary by hotel please refer to the hotel overview page for the desired hotel’s pet policy. If no specific information is listed or if you have specific questions regarding the hotel’s pet policy please contact the hotel directly.”

Hope that helps.

Ride safe!

If you want more than awarm fuzzie. Save 10% with the AMA and RED ROOF deal. Saving cash is nice always had fine service and let me park the bike in view of the desk clerk. So I leave a dirty towel, never had any problem. :)

We have stayed at Best Westerns in the USA, Canada and Nova Scotia. We just recently booked a trip to go from New England to the Southeast and back. Except for a few other stops along the way my husband and I are staying in Best Westerns the whole way. Not only are they always clean and accommodating, they usually suggest that we park our bikes under the overhang right by the entrance so they are kept dry and safe. They have always provided extra towels to clean the bikes.
