Jason's Full Review of the 2008 Honda Silver Wing Scooter
Fuel economy and environmentalism seem to be the topics du jour these days, and few internal combustion vehicles are more efficient than tiny-engined scooters. But bucking the trend of those well-intentioned but underpowered rides are so-called maxi scooters (or power scooters, if you seek a more masculine term.) Bad boys like the Suzuki Burgman 650, the Aprilia Scarabeo 500, and the Honda Silver Wing boast a combination of motorcycle-like power and enough civility to keep your duds (relatively) unruffled.
SUV expert Jason Fogelson has logged some miles on the Honda Silver Wing maxi... er, power scooter, and tells all with his 2008 Honda Silver Wing Full Review. Check it out, browse his photo gallery, and feel free to post your opinion of this burgeoning form of two-wheeled transportation.

The review says Honda didn’t have power ratings published for the silverwing, but I found this on the ownerlink page:
Compact, fuel-injected 582cc DOHC parallel twin-cylinder engine produces 50 bhp at 7500 rpm and 37 lb./ft. of torque at 6000 rpm for effortless acceleration and freeway cruising.
Hey Sloan,
Thanks for the heads up!
I’ve seen those numbers floating around, but Honda refrains from officially stating horsepower figures.
Cheers,
Basem
I don’t know. Over 500 pounds and $8,500? I think I’ll stick with my Ducati 750 Monster with City handlebars and factory bags. I may have to swing a leg over it and operate a foot control, but it’s still comfy, practical, and has awesome handling and brakes.
If you was impressed with the Honda Silverwing, then You’ll be blown away with the Suzuki Burgman 650. it’s an awesome bike, with tons of power, smooth as silk and just an all around awesome bike. tons of storage and nimble as heck.
Check it out.

I traded my 2007 Suzuki Bergman 650 for a 2008 Honda Silverwing. The Silverwing is smoother, faster to 60 mph and the wind at speed does not buffet your helmet like the Bergman does. The Bergman is a great maxi scooter, but just not as refined as the Silverwing. Both are great choices, but after owning both, I definitely prefer the Silverwing.
i’m going to purchase a sw but my question is has anyone looked into installing a stereo in it? if so is there space for it all.
hi im from detroit michigan i have a 2007 silverwing with a radio and 5 1/2 speaker that how we ride up here every body with a scooter have sounds

Umm, I would take John’s comments with a grain of salt considering he does not know how to spell the name of the bike he claims to have owned.
