2009 Ducati SportClassic GT1000 Touring, for the Long Haul... Sorta
Apart from the Multistrada sport tourer, Ducati doesn't offer much in the way of long distance motorcycles. So while a 2009 "Touring" version of the SportClassic GT1000 isn't necessarily a bad thing, I don't think you'll be confusing the retro-styled bike with a Gold Wing any time soon.
The 2009 Ducati SportClassic GT1000 was unveiled at Cologne's Intermot show, and wears a windscreen, luggage rack, chrome front and rear fenders, and new black livery. At $11,995, it ain't too expensive (at least for a Ducati), but the tease of so-called touring features makes me wonder how far Ducati could go if they actually set out to build a dedicated touring motorcycle.

Nice, Looks more like a motorcycle to ride around to work than a touring motorcycle. It reminds me of my Nighthawk and I toured with it.
Nighthawk was the first thing I thought of.
Here in Boston visiting my only aunt, age 75, who is fighting cancer, and just got a call from a friend telling me her dad just died, age 83. It’s a beautiful weekend up here, and on my way out of NYC I should have made plans to rent a bike for my trip. Saw many bikes on the way here.
The equity markets may be down 40% in the last year, but if you are reading this I suggest getting on some two wheel vehicle- bicycle, scooter, or motorcycle - and riding. Or just get out. Let your baseball or football team do what they are paid for (do they visit your office to see you work?) Get out there. Life is for doing, not for observing.
Peace to all.

Nighthawk? Hmmm, I don’t really see it in the Duc.
Scottie, agreed. Few things feel as good as a nice long ride, and I think we could all use some two-wheeled therapy these days– whether or not we’ve got money tied up in failing investments.
Ride safe,

Ducati stopped making the ST4 and stopped bringing in the ST3. Now they continue the “retro” thing by slapping a windshield on a GT1000. I’m waiting for a ST treatment of the 1098. Come on Ducati, put the Sport back in Sport Touring. How many people would buy a comfortable, all-day, 1098?
I have one of them and I can tell you it’s a great bike. I might not be going to keep it for long, just because I’d like a more powerful bike, but it’s great fun around the country lanes. I’d also like to hear Scottie’s life story again…;-) wow…
