What if You Crossed a Sportbike with a Maxi Scooter?
What if you crossed a GSX-R sportbike with a Burgman maxi scooter? Suzuki's R&D department asked that question, and came up with this wild Burgman 400 Sport concept.
Unveiled at Suzuki's annual dealer meeting and published at Hell for Leather Magazine, these shots depict a bike that's a collision of two two-wheeled extremes... not quite as ridiculous as a Ferrari motorcycle concept, but pretty out there, nonetheless.
Does this odd looking hybrid capture your interest, or would you rather keep the crotch rocket and maxi-scooter worlds separate? Check out our Suzuki Burgman 400 Sport Scooter Concept Photo Gallery, and comment with your thoughts.

I, for one, have always liked the idea of a sport scooter, and I kind of like the direction Suzuki is going here. One of my perennial favorites is the Aprilia SR50, arguably the first ’sport’ scooter, and althought it’s extremely nimble, it’s far from a rocket. A Burgman 400 on the other hand, that could have some real steam…just a couple of notes though: why not inverted forks? I understand development costs, but even the little SR50 has inverts! Also, that windscreen is way too short. I know it’s styled like a Supersport, but the seating position between a Hayabusa and a Burgman are polar opposites, and a modicum of wind protection is required, so I’d elevate it only an inch or two. Otherwise, the styling works, the gauges are kit, the wave rotors are sweet (though out of place on those forks), and the graphics are subtle but effective (love the Gixxer-ized “B”!). My only concern: a price that must be floating in the $8,000 range…
Hi Karl,
I agree about the Aprilia SR50 (and other similar, race replica style scooters; I even used it as the lead image in my scooter buyer’s guide.) But the sportbike-inspired look is a bit harder to pull off in a maxi scooter. It’s difficult to keep the center of the bike from looking like a distended belly, especially when it drops so close to the ground… but nonetheless, I think Suzuki deserves props for this concept. At least they’re trying to push the boundaries. And, I bet if they built the Sport concept they’d have more than a few buyers!
Ride safe,
Basem
Not my style, but I’m sure it’s fun to ride. And this scooter, unlike H-Ds Softails even has dual front discs.
Better a scooter trying to be a motorcycle than a motorcycle trying to be a scooter… like the DN-01 maybe (although I still like it’s styling too)
Count me out, that is the ugliest creation I’ve ever seen…
nice bike
