Photo Gallery: Yamaha's New 2009 V-Star 950 and V-Star 950 Tourer

Either Yamaha had a crystal ball that predicted a stumbling world economy, or they simply lucked out when they designed and built their new V-Star 950. The bike, which starts at an impressive $7,890, takes styling cues from the pricier Star Raider and incorporates it into middleweight cruiser and touring form, both of which are capable of yielding 47 mpg. Not only are the bikes aimed at entry and mid-level buyers (like the Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT), they're also viable options for folks who want to downsize from a heavyweight cruiser.
