61 Mongol Gang Members Arrested in Massive Los Angeles Crackdown

Mongols MC If you recall the recent tensions between the Hells Angels and the Mongols, you probably won't be surprised to read that a crackdown involving 1,000 federal agents and police across six states resulted in the arrest of 61 Mongol gang members, as well as the seizure of "two dozen gleaming motorcycles," according to the L.A. Times.

U.S. Attorney Thomas P. O'Brien is quoted as saying, "We're going after their very identity," suggesting that prosecutors will attempt to ban the gang from wearing their trademarked name. Acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Michael Sullivan is similarly aggressive, asserting that "We believe [the indictment] puts a stake in the heart of the Mongols."

The culmination of a three year undercover operation, the Mongols are being held under a broad array of charges including racketeering, murder, drug trafficking, weapons offenses and money laundering-- activities just as hardcore as stuff you'd find in fiction. Given the real life allegations of brutal violence and torture, this is a story that's sure to trigger the morbid fascination of the mainstream media.

It ends when you run out of Motorcycle Gangs that engage in Murder, etc. as noted in the story: >

This group gives respectable bikers a bad name and put all of us at risk when we ride across the country. Good riddence to them and to their name. It cannot happen soon enough!

This first guy cant be serious…. I am the president of an official Motorcycle Club in Los Angeles and we allways wear colors. Does this mean that the Feds are going to crack down on me..??? duh! keywords were racketeering, murder, drug trafficking, weapons offenses and money laundering. Not associated with all Motorcycle clubs…

It’s a shame innocent lives would be at risk…otherwise the could just let them kill each other. The Hells Angels and all the rest of scum gone at the same time!

I think they should be recuited into the biggest gang of all THE US ARMY. Give guns and send them to Iraq. Besides why did it take a 1000 agents to take care of 61 bikers?

I think we should all get together in a forum thread and determine the exact definition of “biker” and “gangster”. The word “murder” certainly does not appeal to me one bit. I’m head of a club dedicated to promote motorcycle safety and “hopefully” saving lives.

Going after their gang name? Lets see, skin heads run around wearing swastikas, the kkk runs around wrapped in white sheets, but the man is going to tell a hand full of dirtbags they can’t wear their gangs name…? Out of the 61 charged, the man will be lucky to get one or two guilty on anything serious, all those law enforsement man hours down the drain that tax payers paid for…
