Photo Gallery: 2008 Goodwood Revival, A Celebration of Classic Motorcycles

Monday November 17, 2008
2008 Goodwood Revival I've been to more than a few classic bike smorgasbords in my life, but few have compared to the Goodwood experience. Held on an airfield in the verdant British countryside, the annual Goodwood Revival celebrates everything from vintage race cars to planes to, of course, motorcycles.

The pinnacle of the two-wheeled portion of the proceedings is the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy, which featured a Le Mans-style running start and attracted racing legends like "Fast" Freddie Spencer, Jeremy McWilliams, and Phil Read.

For motorcycle shots from this memorable event, check out my 2008 Goodwood Revival Photo Gallery.

And if you're into old school race cars, Tony and Michele Hamer over at Classic Cars have a Goodwood Photo Gallery featuring legends like Jackie Ickx, Jackie Stewart, and Stirling Moss, not to mention some sexy Maseratis, Alfa Romeos, and Jaguars.

Great bikes! (but I must say that I’m thankful to be living in the age of disc brakes)

Scottie,

Vintage racers certainly put their lives on the line… though the speeds attained by MotoGP & WSBK racers far exceed the dangers of riding creaky old machines. But ah, what fun.

Drum brakes weren’t really all that bad Scottie. One of my old bikes had them and they were even better than the disk brakes.
