How hard is it to build a decent pair of riding goggles? Regular sunglasses usually don't cut it when you're riding against the wind, and considering the multiple purposes of motorcycle eyewear-- like protection from glare, dust, bugs and all manner of airborne particles-- it's surprisingly easy for bad design to get in the way good eye protection. Two manufacturers that happen to get eyewear right are Star Motorcycles and Harley-Davidson. Star's new $19.95 riding glasses use polycarbonate lenses with UV400 protection, and a built-in foam cushion to keep wind and debris out of your eyes. For more, go to Star's accessories website.
Harley-Davidson offers a wide array of eyewear in the $35 range, but their top of the line Profile model features convertible design, swappable lenses, and Carl Zeiss optics that are six times more impact resistant than standard polycarbonate. I clicked the link to compare prices, the page compared harley to harley? For my eyes i buy “BOBSTER”. They got cool shades & googles for about half of the harley gear. The downside is that they aren’t very cool, they don’t say harley on them…
