2009 BMW R1200GS Review You know a bike is capable when you spend a day barreling down sunbaked interstates at triple digit speeds in triple digit temperatures, and feel confident enough to continue riding into darkness. You also know you're on a serious piece of kit when massive ruts barely perturb the motorcycle's nearly 8 inches of suspension travel. After all, if the BMW R1200GS can take McGregor and Boorman on latitudinal and longitudinal rides across the globe, it can probably get you anywhere you can dream of going.

Basem, what is the point of these little “hey check out my article” pre-posts clogging up the RSS feed? Why not just post the article? Do you get paid by the post or something?

Hi WG,

I’m not sure what you’re referring to. When I post an article, I promote it on the blog since there would be no other way of knowing it’s been published.

There are several RSS feeds for the site– Headlines, What’s Hot, and Popular– and perhaps you’re subscribed in duplicate?

Here’s an example:
this post shows up in the feed:
http://motorcycles.about.com/b/2009/06/16/motorcycle-accessory-review-helmet-secure.htm

It links to this article:
http://motorcycles.about.com/od/gearreviews/gr/helmet_secure_lock_review.htm

My question is, why not post the second article directly to the feed instead of a throwaway that links to it?
