"...Next year will be twice as good," John Hopkins proclaimed at 2008's inaugural, rain-soaked Indianapolis MotoGP race, and this year's Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix didn't disappoint the weekend's 146,680 attendees. (Un)perfectly timed commercial breaks during FOX's coverage struck while early race leader Dani Pedrosa crashed out, followed by Valentino Rossi's race-ending front end tuck. By the event's end, Fiat Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo claimed the top spot.
Alex De Angelis came in second, and "Kentucky Kid" Nicky Hayden landed in third on his Marlboro Ducati, for his best finish this season. Repsol Honda's Andrea Dovizioso came in fourth, and "Texas Tornado" Colin Edwards took fifth on his Tech 3 Yamaha. With two Americans finishing in Indy's top five spots and five races to go, it's looking like Rossi's points slip might add some suspense to remainder of the season.
