Kawasaki Officially Clarifies Thailand Production Issue

Kawasaki Several weeks ago, I reported on a news item suggesting that Kawasaki is moving some of their motorcycle production from Japan to Thailand. The following clarification was recently forwarded from Kawasaki's U.S. PR office: "Here is the 'story behind the story' on that information about larger motorcycle production going to Thailand," the email states. "The Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun drew incorrect conclusions from comments regarding future KHI production planning. The information carried by them was unattributed and does not reflect current company intent..." [boldface emphasis from original email.]

The Kawasaki rep clarified that the KLX110, KLX140, KLX140L, KLX250S, KLX250SF, KLR650, Eliminator 125, ER-6n, Ninja 650R, and Ninja 250R models are currently being built in Thailand, but offered no insight into future product plans. Being the inquisitive type, I requested an ER-6n for review while I had their attention, and will be picking up a test bike up later this week. So, there you have it: official clarification from Kawasaki, and another bike review to look out for.
