While gearing up to ride the new Hypermotard 796 at Ducati headquarters in Bologna, Italy, I spotted what looked like a camouflaged enduro speeding into the parking lot... but before I could grab my camera, the black blur was gone.
Today's unveiling of the 2010 Ducati Multistrada at the EICMA show in Milan revealed far more than my 'lil point-and-shoot could have. It turns out the new bike offers features like electronically controllable Öhlins suspension, a four-mode fly-by-wire throttle management system, anti-lock brakes, and a hands-free ignition system (not unlike Kawasaki's KIPASS.) Other long distance-friendly highlights include heated handgrips, hard cases, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Take a look at Ducati's latest in our 2010 Multistrada 1200 Photo Gallery, and stay tuned for more on Ducati's 2010 lineup.

WOW, this thing is ugly!
Joe,
Ya think? I kinda like it… though I’ll reserve final judgement until I see it in the flesh.
Basem
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder Basem. Just can’t get over the beak front end . Rest of the bike isn’t bad.
I’m with Joe, the beak is a huge turn off. I understand the concept of the birds in flight and the freedom of bikes, they go hand in hand. But a beak?
Ever seen an R1200GS or similar adventure tourer?
Definitely love it or leave it looks but the MS1200 is shaping up to be the most versatile Ducati in their lineup.
I GESS THIS BIKE UNITES ALTOGETHER TWO DIFFERENT RIDING PLANETS; THE TOURING AND THE SPORTY… REGARDLESS IT IS SAID TO BE A MULTIUSE-ENDURO LIKE SUPERBIKE, I HAVE MY DOUBTS WETHER ANY BRAND OF SUPERENDURO BEHAVES WELL IN AN OFF ROAD ENVIROINMENT. I HAVE AN EXCELLENT GUESS THIS BIKE WILL BE A GREAT HIT. THE ENGINE IS PRETTY RELIABLE, HIGH TORQUE, HUMNANGOUS AMMOUNT OF HPs AND LIGHTWEIGHT. THE FRAME IS EXCELLENT. LET´S HJOPE THE MACARRONI GUYS MAKE A GOOD JOB IN ELECTRICAL PARTS…
I have been riding a BMW r1150 gs since it was new in 2001. I have been drooling over Ducati for years, but didn’t think them “practical”. I rode a friends Streetfighter ‘S’ one day in July for about 700 km on country roads in Nova Scotia, Canada, the same roads I ride my gs on. The performance was amazing, truly amazing , but the wind blast almost tore my head off at speed . Now, in the new multistrada I can have it all ( except the shaft drive) the performance, the handling , awesome brakes, wind protection, heated grips and luggage. Ugly ? No more so than the BMW. Beautiful in function , and isn’t that the point ?
Jay has it right on. Own one of each; R1200GS and a Ducati Streetfighter S. Both are amazing rides, so different. GS is the best overall cycle I’ve owned in 39 years of riding. But to imagine my GS with the raw power, precision feel and velvet handling of that Ducati engine/chassis package…
WOW.!!!
That’s got to be just IT. I’m buying one.
Guess I need to find a buyer for my Beemer.
