Call it self-preservation or call it paranoia, but when it comes to riding gear I'm usually pretty gung ho for protection. Full racing leathers? No problem. Articulated spine protector? Sign me up! But when you're planning a six day-long road trip that involves sharing two small saddlebags, your priorities shift just a bit.
Pressed for space but aiming for a modicum of safety, I chose a pair of Alpinestars Mille boots as my only form of footwear. How did their combination of coverage and comfort work for my trip? I shed some light in my Alpinestars Mille Boot Review.

Hi, I got a pair of the Mille’s after you review and although they are comfortable to ride in, walking in mine (size 50) causes a very uncomfortable/painful pinch/pressure spot from the top gear shift armor when scrunched up mid-step on both feet.
Is this something you experienced at all? Trying to debate if that’ll go away with enough wear as I haven’t seen anybody else mention this problem.
Thanks
Hi Sean,
I find the Milles to be have a somewhat firm grasp around my ankles, but when walking I tend to loosen the velcro strap and creating some slack in the laces… but then again, I’ve got relatively skinny legs, so that might be why I haven’t had much, if any, problem in that area.
Ride safe,
Basem
