10 Weirdest Motorcycle Mufflers
Remember when a muffler was just a muffler-- that is, a wider extension of the cylindrical pipes coming out of a bike's engine? Design sure has changed since those simple days, with manufacturers seeming hell-bent on outdoing each other's weirdness by penning increasingly funky exhaust cans.

For proof, peruse this list of the 10 Weirdest Motorcycle Mufflers of 2009, and write in your own submissions if you think I missed a bike.

OMG … I’d forgotten how many truly ugly mufflers were unleashed on us last year. I figure the only one you missed is the1300 Gixxer. The Hibachi is such an overall styling train wreck, the TWO oil drums hanging off the back of the bike simply got lost in the clutter.
Ducati got raped in the press when they put that ridiculous (a la CBR RR) single pipe under the seat on the 999.
They at least listened and fixed it on the 1098.
Too bad pretty much every other manufacturer has lost sight of what can be a very esthetically pleasing necessity of engineering.

Maybe that’s because the bikes are so sharp, an ulgy muffler really sticks out…as opposed to 100% ugly.

If you’d be good enough to enlighten us as to what HD rules these days….?

HD rules about half the MC market in the USA. Their exhausts are nice looking too.
