Harley Launches Bike Locator for Remaining Buells... Last Call for Buells!

By , About.com GuideDecember 31, 2009

Follow me on:

Buell Buell's demise was sudden and unexpected, but the manufacturer's death won't quite feel official until the remainder of Buell bikes are liquidated from dealerships.

To help move their remainders, Harley-Davidson has launched a dedicated website that tracks inventory and helps locate bikes by location, with the caveat that "Inventory counts are updated regularly but may not be reflective of actual product availability."

The site is an efficient and numerically pragmatic, but ultimately serves as a grim footnote to the homegrown brand that couldn't quite gain enough commercial momentum to survive in an increasingly harsh business environment.

At the time of this blog post-- during the last few hours of 2009-- the site indicates "1243 Buells left in the USA." Let's hope 2010 holds brighter days for domestic bike builders, not to mention the motorcycle industry at large.

Hate to see Buell or any bike for that matter go but their bikes could never compare to the Metric sportbikes in price or value. A Honda 1000rr puts out almost 30 more Hp then a 1125r and most other Metric bikes even more then that. These bikes were never going to sell well. I think it was smart of HD to stop making them. HD should just stick to cruisers, leave the sportbike market to Japan. Seems like a good idea for HD to do the bike locater should help sell them quicker.

Shame, what a shame…
Wish they had developed a bike with the Evolution motor… that would have been a nice one!

Frank, it’s Revolution motor not Evolution assuming you mean the V rod motor. Please do everyone a favor on here and learn something about HD before trying to put them down, your making us Americans look bad again.

Frank, Frank, Frank, you made the same mistake in the Ridley Auto- Glide post. It’s not a mistake if you keep making it over and over it’s because you know nothing about HD’s and you shouldn’t make comments about stuff you know nothing about. Stick to sportbike stuff Frank and stop being a HD hater. Grow up, ok Frank!!

They’ve only sold about 40 bikes since this post. At this rate it’s going to take a while to deplete this stock
