Harley-Davidson's new Forty-Eight offers custom styling for barely over 10 grand, but the just-unveiled CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide takes over at the other end of the spectrum, becoming the most expensive bike in the Harley lineup with a price tag of $36,499. But before you dismiss the CVO's premium positioning, consider that Harley's biggest sellers are their high-dollar touring bikes, all but ensuring that this low-volume model will sell out.
Only 999 of the new CVO Ultras will be built, and the bike features approximately 185 blacked-out components, as well as a handlebar-mounted Garmin Road Tech zumo 660 navigation unit and the usual CVO fixins like a Screamin' Eagle Twin Cam 110 engine, heated saddle and grips, LED saddlebag lights, a passenger backrest with adjustable lumbar, and more.

I think the blacked-out look a terribly passe’, but what do I know.
I can’t see spending this much money on any bike. Even if I hit the lottery.
You wanna go touring, there’s only one way to go..and this ain’t it.
A GL is it..always has been.
For quite a bit less money too.
I think there are some other great touring bikes out the besides the GL. Sat on a Victory Cross CTY and it was a very nice bike. The reg. Ultra is nice also and is priced about the same as the GL.
Joe,
I sat on the Victory X-R & X-C the the IMS here in NY last Friday and they really seem like terrific bikes. NVer happy with my Stratoliner and not dumping it any time soon, but this was what I was waiting fo Victory to produce. Just didn’t wait long enough.
“very” happy with the Strat.
Hey Scottie, I was at the same show in NY (Sat.). I like the 2010 Stratoliner Delx. they had with the fairing at the show. Only thing with the Strat was it’s still priced a little high I think. To bad they can’t get the price around $16000 or so. The Cross CTY seems priced right, $1000 less then the HD Streetglide. I don’t think I will be buying anything soon either and I am very happy with my Super Glide but it’s nice to look and dream.
If Harley really wanted to build a true, all-day-in-the-saddle touring bike, they would have built in more wind protection than that wimpy 6.5” windshield. Instead, they built another overpriced, don’t-I-look-just-too-cool retro-cycle.
It amazes me that Harley’s business model of building bikes for their looks rather than their function has worked as well as it has.
Steve, the Victory Cross CTY and Statoliner Delx. have the same size windshield as the HD Ultra.
Joe,
The Deluxe has caused a lot of conversation on the Liner forum I’m on. Many have gone to Corbin farings and bags, and don’t think the Deluxe measures up to that.
I think Yamaha will have a tough time getting their price unless they limit production. They produced too many in 2007 and I got the left over Strat last year for under $10k.
That’s a great price Scottie, awesome bike for that kind of money. I have a friend with a Roadstar and he put on the corbin fairing and bags, looks real good but the fairing and bags didn’t come cheap. If you can find a deal like you got that is the way to go. Especially if you do the work yourself.
