It's safe to say that Mr. Zip is mildly obsessed with "Easy Rider," and he'll be the first to tell you-- at least on his blog-- that "the movie cemented me as a rider for life at a young age."
In fact, Zip's fascination with the 1969 film has motivated him to spend the last few years researching and riding the route on his FLHX Street Glide, which eventually yielded a fairly exhaustive guide to Wyatt and Billy's cross country ride, complete with then-and-now photographs.
Zip's ode to Route 66 is kinda endearing, and includes a few practical tips on how not to re-live the "Easy Rider" experience ("Definitely don't put coke money in your gas tank, because It'll lower your gas mileage.") Check it out, and drop a line if you've ever had the inclination to... um, head out on the highway, Easy Rider style.

On a personal note, I consider Captain America's gas tank so iconic, I used it for the cover of my book.

There’s 2 movies that spoke loud & clear to, and about, multiple generations of riders. The other one is “On Any Sunday”.
Great movie! Impressive map of their journey. I’ll have to pass this around.
thanks Basem for the kind words. It’s all still out there right?
Mr. Zip happens to be my brother, and a total enthusiast for everything on two wheels. I’m happy that his “fascination” has gone to this level. And I wouldn’t call it a “mild obsession” it’s more of a lifestyle for him. Love ya’ brother!
Without a doubt one of the best blogs ever!Being a rider of many years can sure appreciate it.
Good grief and I thought that I was the only “Zip” on the planet, having had that particular moniker ever since 1972…!!! Good for him, from another long-standing “Easy Rider” fan!
Ride safely,
Dr. Zip.

At 57 you have given me the itch again. My teen friends and I rode to the drive-in on our bikes to see Easy Rider when it came out. Your blog brought me back to those days again. I even remember riding in the rain as it stung my face and loving every moment on my “Mighty Honda CB160″. It was all that I could afford, but I drooled over the HD XLCH and the Norton Commando in those days. Thanx, Zipp
Saw Easy rider at the theater in 1969, and wondered about that route ever since then. I got the map and page printed, I’m riding it in 13 days. Great research. Thanks MrZip
Just finished reading the entire blog. Research from a real biker. Man, you hit my soul.
I always wondered about the actual route. Now I know. Thanks for taking all the time to research it. You saved lazy f**** like me alot of time !
