Kawasaki Long Term Test Bike Winner: Concours 14 ABS

A while back, I handed my fate over to you, my trusty readers, and opened the polls for a Kawasaki I'll be testing over the next few months.

As you can probably imagine, I had a favorite I was hoping would win-- and thanks to your great taste in bikes, I've taken on the task of testing a 2013 Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS for the long haul, which beat the next closest finisher, the Ninja 300, by nearly twice as many votes.

I've picked up the Kawi-- seen here in Metallic Nocturne Blue-- and will report soon with first impressions.

Thanks for picking what I think is a winner, guys. You'll soon be hearing about whether or not the Connie lives up to my expectations.

I have 2 friends now with Concour’s 14′s. 1 of them is 4 years old (the bike that is…) with about 180,000km on it and one is brand new. The new was purchased because of the exceptional reliability and treatment by Kawasaki on the 4 year old.

I traded a 2005 BMW K1200s(bought new) on a new 2012 Concours14 last year. I had electrical issues that were eventually traced to a loose ground that in addition to various gremlins would flatten my battery. These were fixed under warranty and the battery replaced without question. It was a time consuming repair. I’m impressed by Kawasaki and it gives me faith in their support for long term ownership. The bike is a great ride. I do miss the k12s as it was a fabulous ride but I turned 60 and I simply don’t bend like I used to but the C14 has made me happy and the creature comforts are good. I added a cruise control to it this year. Plus it was the better part of $10K less than a BMW K1600 or R1200 here in Canada factoring in taxes.
