General Motors and Segway have teamed up for the PUMA concept, which stands for Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility. PUMA doesn't look like a traditional two-wheeler, mainly because it features:
- Dynamic stabilization, which involves two-wheel balancing
- All-electronic acceleration, steering and braking
- Automated vehicle-to-vehicle communications and autonomous driving and parking
The PUMA promises a top speed of up to 35 mph with a range of up to 35 miles, making it ideal for short range urban transportation. Though specifics are sketchy, GM expects the PUMA to cost 1/4 to 1/3 the price of a typical automobile. There's no word on when this concept might become a reality.
