Rivale is an appropriate name for MV Agusta’s supermoto-style concept bike, potentially a future rival to the Ducati Hypermotard. This Italian machine utilizes a compact 800cc inline-triple powerplant from MV Agusta’s middleweight Brutale naked bike, featuring a counter-rotating crankshaft to reduce inertia while turning, making for lighter handling. As on other MVs, the Rivale has a traditionally Italian upper steel-tube trellis frame, connected to aluminum plates that tie the rear of the motorcycle together. Out back are unusual twin side-mounted tail lights, along with an MV-signature triple-pipe muffler.
