The 1.5 million square foot York, Pennsylvania plant is Harley-Davidson's largest manufacturing facility. The factory became an H-D facility in 1973, and was purchased from AMF in 1981.
York sees the fabrication, painting, and assembly of Softail, Touring, and CVO motorcycles for worldwide distribution, but its 2,000+ employees face an uncertain future due to efficiency concerns which might initiate a plant relocation before the end of 2009.
