The all-new 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 (priced at $12,899) gets its first major redesign since 2001.
Features include:
- An all-new 999cc inline-4 cylinder powerplant that produces more horsepower and torque, improved throttle response, and reduced emissions
- An aluminum alloy swingarm that's arched to accommodate twin titanium exhaust pipes
- A new chassis with a shorter wheelbase and longer swingarm for improved handling
- New radially mounted mono-block front brakes with fully-floating 310mm drilled discs
- New Showa BPF (Big Piston Forks) with rebound and compression valving adjustment screws on the fork caps
- Repositioned S-DMS controls for more convenient adjustment
- Redesigned bodywork with less graphics than the 2008 model
