What do you ride? List year, make, and model!
2002 Suzuki Bandit 1200s
What do you love about your bike?
Good Power at every RPM, great MPG (over 50mpg). Cheap to own/maintain Fast
Any dislikes?
Weight, soft springs, needs minor mods to get the most from the bike.
Where I bought it
Bought used in Dallas $3000. Swapped exhaust (lost 18lbs), opened air box,re jetted for smooth throttle response (picked up power and economy).
Added heavier rate, front springs, and Stock Hayabusa shock (matched front spring rate). Mich pilots and Dunlop road smart tires work well and last for about 8000+ miles.
Have a total of $3300 invested (plus some time). Runs on cheap gas 87 octane (low compression), insurance is very inexpensive (no tickets, and over 35 years old). Cuts low 10 second quarter mile times, and runs up to 150mph. Great commuter at 45-50 mpg. No water cooling. Good wind protection, comfy.
Why I bought it
Affordable fun. Easy wheelies. Comfy. Sleeper bike. Simple design. Performance "potential" is nearly unlimited, so make it what you want. Its a 60's muscle car on two wheels. Roughly 115-120 hp/76-80lbs of torque. Will pull cleanly from 1000 rpm in 5th gear. Keeps up with cutting edge sport bikes in about 85% of everyday riding.
Tips and Tricks
- Change exhaust, open air box, re-jet, re spring for weight and riding style, swap rear shock for better unit. Add sport tires. Raise rear suspension 5mm to help steering and anti squat under heavy power.
