Where did you ride from/to?
Dar es Salaam to Mbeya and Mbeya to Arusha.
Mbeya is about 815 kilometers from Dar es Salaam. And Arusha is about 1000 kilometers from Mbeya.
These towns are in Tanzania, East Africa.
What did you ride?
I used a Honda Degree 250 with no modification. I had the bike with me since 2004. I went with it shorter distances like about 450 kilometers with easy and quick rides for about 200 kilometers.
I was however excited about having one more ride with the bike before I decided to sell the bike.
I had a good opportunity to do so as I had urgent business to attend in Mbeya and Arusha. But my budget as well as time was mean to me.
I thought the bike would save me time and costs since I was really in rush. But then I never got the time to accomplish the thought because the urgency of the trip faded out.
However, after a month or so a better opportunity came my way which did not lean on my budget or time.
Since I had a plan already the time was very welcoming. Within a week I was set for the trip.
What I'd Do Differently
- I planned for about two months before the trip
- organized the paper works such as insurances and road licenses
- run a proper service on the machine that includes new tiers, bulb lights, cleaning radiator, tuning the carburetor.
