From the article: Ten Great Beginner Bikes
No matter how many motorcycles you've owned, you'll never forget your first bike; there's something about that formative experience that's unforgettable, and impossible to repeat with another machine.
What was your first bike?
Tell us all about it!2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD
- Silver and blue...great looking little cruiser that's easy to maneuver and powerful enough to take a passenger on a long week-end ride. I call mine "Klingon"...get it?

- Just started riding and love this thing. 181cc small bike. Its deceivingly nimble and fun to ride. I dont have a ton of experience yet but I think Im going to be a small to mid size bike kind of guy. I just dont care much for the style of the larger bikes. I feel like alot of guys just get the biggest thing they can.... Id never recomend a first time car driver learn on a hummer... And when you do learn, how many of us end up with a hummer?

Harley
- My first bike was a Harley Fourty-Eight Sportster 1200cc. I wanted a cruiser and didn't want to waste time getting a 250cc bike. I took the course, passed, and started riding the Harley. I absolutely love it!!

First Bike
- My first bike was a 1984 Honda 400, p.o.s. but it got me hooked. Traded it for an 81 virago 750 that I sold to pay some bills when my first child was born. When she got a little older and I was a little better off I bought a super sharp 96 Harley Heritage Classic that set car alarms off when I rode past. Sold that one when my son was born. (I think I am beginning to see a pattern here.) In protest of rising gas prices, I recently bought an 80 Kawasaki KZ250G with 11,000 miles that I planned on turning into a cafe but now that I've got it tuned up, cleaned up, and have swapped the bars out it looks and runs so good that I think I am going to just leave it alone and ride it as is. It's comfortable, gets compliments and serves me well. I'm just hoping the wife doesn't end up pregnant again. I've been riding off and on for 25 years with no accidents. Hoping for at least another 25 years of the same.

Triumph 200 Cub
- Don't remember what year the bike was. I was 16 at the time (59 now). Begged my parents and finally wore them down. Bought with my own money. Single cylinder. It had a high scrambler type exhaust pipe. Orange and white two tone tank. Sounded great. And of course, the Lucas wiring had problems and it leaked oil. Didn't care. Loved that bike. Like we all say, wish I still had it today.

- I was 16 at the time working part time at a suzuki dealer.I asked my father if I could get a bike and he said well its sept and winter will be here soon,so lets wait till spring .And if you still want a bike we will talk about it then.2 weeks later my boss asked me to and get a 250 cc husler 1967 out of the warehouse and put it together they came in crates all apart, I asked what colour and he said you pick the colour. the costomer just wants it by 4 to day. Well I picked the first one closest to the door Red .Well when I got home it was in the lane way,I thought hay I put one together like that today, must be my brothers friend.I went in the house asked my mom who the bike belonged to she said talke to your father I went to the den he said here this is yours and gave me a little book I thought is was a check book but no it was a HFC book I looked at him and he said I did my part you do yours 12 easy payments at 28% . . ,loved that bike. I now own 8 kawas ,3 suzukis ,1 yamaha

First Bike
- Another late bloomer here. I took the MSF course and got my license at 57. I bought a 2006 Suzuki Katana 600 and for me it's a perfect fit. It is fast enough to be fun and fuel mileage is in the mid 40's so it is a good commuter and still a hoot to play with.

My 1st bike
- I started riding in January 2011 at age 46, my first bike was a Yamaha 50cc scooter. In the fall I took an MSF course & purchased a 1984 Honda CM450e with 6 gears. Loved it. I have a thing for older model Hondas and almost bought a '67 Honda Hawk. For Christmas my hub gave me a 1985 Honda Shadow VT500c in showroom shape with only 6,000 miles on it. 3 bikes in 11 months, 50cc, 450cc and 500cc. Love em all.
